Dr. Abdulla Khaleel is an internationally recognized orthopedic surgeon specializing in disorders of the shoulder, knee, ankle, and all sports-related injuries. He is associated with KIMS Alshifa Hospital, serving as the Head of Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine. Utilizing advanced arthroscopic surgical techniques, Dr. Khaleel focuses on restoring damaged joints, ligaments, and bones in the shoulder, elbow, knee, hip, and ankle. From weekend warriors to professional athletes, Dr. Khaleel provides world-class treatment and personalized care to all patients.
As a shoulder and sports surgeon, Dr. Khaleel has treated national-level athletes from cricket, football, baseball, volleyball, karate, kalari, and more. He is a member of the Indian Arthroscopic Society, Indian Orthopedic Association, Kerala Orthopedic Association, and the Shoulder and Elbow Society of India. Additionally, he is an active member of ISAKOS (International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery, and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine).
Before joining KIMS Alshifa Hospital, Dr. Khaleel completed his MBBS from Yenepoya Medical College - RGUHS Karnataka and his MS in Orthopedics from Sri Ramachandra University, Chennai. At SRMC, he trained under stalwarts like Prof. SSK Marthandam. After practicing general traumatology for two years, Dr. Khaleel pursued additional fellowships in shoulder and knee arthroscopy. He undertook a short-term fellowship with Dr. Ashish Bhabulkar in Pune, at a time when shoulder arthroscopy was in its infancy, and specialized shoulder surgeons were rare in India. He furthered his training in knee surgery under Dr. Sonnery Cottet at the world-renowned Centre Orthopédique Santy, a FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence.
Dr. Khaleel has performed numerous surgeries that were firsts in Kerala. He regularly performs ACL ligament reconstruction with biological enhancement and remnant preservation, a unique technique used internationally. For the past ten years, he has routinely performed anterolateral ligament (ALL) reconstruction to reduce the risk of ACL re-rupture, enabling professional athletes to return to their pre-injury levels of sports activity.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Khaleel enjoys cycling, swimming, and fishing.
